Course overview

Stroke is the fourth leading cause of death in the U.S., but the primary cause of adult disability. About 795,000 people have a stroke each year, with an estimated cost of $73.7 billion. While stroke incidence is expected to increase dramatically as more of the 76 million baby boomers age, 28% of people who have a stroke are younger than 65. Research and technological advances have led to changes in stroke management and are addressed in this activity.
