Technology in healthcare is constantly advancing, and the future of telehealth continues to increase beyond expectations. Telehealth, although utilized in various settings has through the COVID-19 pandemic experienced increased usage and rapid integration into the healthcare system. The purpose of this online certificate course is to: (1) provide an introduction and overview of telehealth (2) provide an understanding of telehealth in relation to evidence based clinical practice (3) describe how the implementation of telehealth can provide the best quality outcomes (4) examine the legal and regulatory issues related to telehealth delivery and practice, (5) describe telehealth practice using an interprofessional practice with specialized populations and (6) identify the standards of telehealth prior to COVID-19 and after the crisis. The course will also examine how to provide clinical experiences through telehealth. This course will prepare learners to understand the use of telehealth to improve healthcare and outcomes, and for providers to improve their telehealth practice. Telehealth is expected to remain integral to many healthcare systems and organizations.
