Course overview
The purpose of the continuing education program is to explore, through reflective dialogue, the complex processes of implementing nursing education programs in academic and clinical settings grounded in caring science principles, theories, and ethical values. Participants examine how caring science informs nursing education programs, offering and discussing stellar examples. They propose strategies on how to design caring science-oriented academic environments and suggest approaches for academic leaders that sustain these efforts. Participants develop components of plans that engage stakeholders in initiating and maintaining environmental changes and targeting outcomes consistent with caring science principles. Objectives: Upon completion of the workshop, the participant will: 1. Explore how caring science principles and ethical values can inform nursing education programs. 2. Propose activities that might influence the creation of a caring science-oriented academic environment 3. Describe the influences of academic leaders on creating and maintaining a culture consistent with caring science principles. 4. Suggest actionable plans on how to incorporate caring science into academic contexts that foster faculty student, and staff well-being.
