Course overview
This training will describe common reactions to traumatic events and how they can impact functioning in a school setting and the prevalence and outcomes of trauma exposure as reported in the ACE Studies.It will review the role of the National Incident Management system in the response to school crises. The training will define the phases of a crisis event and how a CISM team can be involved in each and explain the 6 Core Elements of CISM and how they can be utilized in a school setting. The trainer will describe the four CISM techniques most commonly utilized in a school setting and describe the concept of suicide contagion and contributing factors to it. There will be group exercises, on understanding of the SAFER-R protocol and the informational group intervention process. The group will participate in role-plays which will help participants understand of the interactional group protocols. The trainer will also explain the formula for strategic planning and how it can be utilized.
