Alzheimers disease is the most common cause of dementia in older adults. A person' genetics, lifestyle, and environment play a part in the development of the disease, but the cause of Alzheimers disease is not known. There is no cure for Alzheimers disease and attempts at finding easily applied preventative measures have not been successful. The treatment for Alzheimers disease at this point focuses on symptomatic relief. This course will provide healthcare professionals with a synopsis of Alzheimers and information on how to manage the disease. It covers the risks and benefits of using certain treatments for behavioral issues related to Alzheimers and the emotional stress of caring for Alzheimers patients. You will learn how to diagnose the early, middle, and late findings associated with Alzheimers. You will also be able to list three diagnostic tests and nonmedical interventions that can help Alzheimers patients.
