Course overview

Course Description: This course is a review of the NASW, the National Association of Social Workers, Code of Ethics. The course may meet the 2 hour mandatory license renewal requirements for many licensed professions. Remember why you became a social worker in the first place. Read the NASW code of ethics for a review of the foundations of our field. This course will remind you of the core principles that guide all social work practice, regardless of setting and client population. It is targeted for beginner, intermediate and advanced social workers. It is also appropriate for other mental health professionals who are interested in another perspective on ethics. Learning Objectives: This course will provide a professional with a review of common ethical problems faced by mental health professionals as well as ways to avoid them. Specifically, a professional will able to: 1. Identify core values on which social work's mission is based. 2. Summarize broad ethical principles that reflect the profession's core values. 3. Identify relevant considerations when professional obligations conflict or ethical uncertainties arise.
