Have you ever heard a patient say that it has taken them a year to recover from surgical anesthesia? After understanding the ischemia reperfusion injury, you will realize that their fatigue and difficulty recovering is actually related to return of blood flow to the limb, and likely not to the anesthesia at all. This webinar brings to light the latest information on the musculoskeletal and systemic effects of tourniquet release in orthopedic surgeries. While most understand the effects of ischemia of a limb during ischemia, few practitioners are aware of the even more detrimental local and global effects when the limb is reperfused. Understanding particularly the latter, will bring a better understanding of post-surgical patient conditions and lead to greater success in patient outcomes
