Implementing Home Accessibility Interventions for Older Adults
Tracking # 20-923350
Course overview
With shorter inpatient stays and hospital-at-home models, patients are often discharged home before reaching an independent functional level. Successful return home to continue the rehabilitation process may require home modifications and adaptive equipment to enhance safety, functional independence, and contribute to preventing readmissions. Occupational therapy professionals play a key role in assessing home safety and recommending appropriate home modifications and adaptive equipment specific to the patients sensory, cognitive, and physical deficits. In this course, you will learn practical knowledge on home safety assessments, home modifications, and adaptive equipment to make recommendations and enhance older adults safety and quality of life.
