Hour 1 - 3 *Discuss the role of diet in causing and preventing various diseases, particularly chronic diseases. *Describe methods used to assess nutrition status. *Explain how dietary recommendations are formulated. *Incorporate nutritional information into clinical practice and advise patients about eating for optimum health as well as using dietary change as a therapeutic intervention. *Evaluate the benefits and risks of nutritional recommendations for specific health conditions through an analysis of the existing scientific and clinical evidence. Hour 4 *Investigate the importance of nutrient deficiencies. *Review the role of essential nutrients in human health. *Analyze the interaction between nutrients and various illnesses. *Ascertain the role herbs have in health and disease. *Understand drug and nutrient interactions.
