Course overview
Colorectal cancer is a preventable and curable disease. Increased public awareness about colorectal cancer has resulted in improved screening techniques, earlier detection, and better therapies. Deaths due to colorectal cancer have been declining over the past several decades. To ensure that the downward trend continues, all healthcare professionals should be knowledgeable about the risks of developing colorectal cancer, current screening recommendations, pathophysiology, staging, and treatment strategies. The goal of this course is to provide nursing professionals in the acute care setting with an overview of colorectal cancer screening guidelines and treatment recommendations.
