This course provides foundational knowledge of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), a common pulmonary disease. Completing this course will help rehabilitation therapists who care for individuals with COPD in the home health setting to better understand current medical management of COPD. This understanding will support better collaboration between multiple providers and improve coordination of care, with the ultimate goal of preventing patient readmission to an acute care setting. In addition, this course will introduce how aging affects the respiratory system and provide direction for supporting individuals with COPD in achieving a better quality of life.
