Course overview
Nurses constantly use aseptic techniques during their practice, perhaps even without conscious realization. With over 2.8 million antibiotic-resistant infections and 35,000 associated deaths estimated annually in the U.S., consciousness in aseptic practices is drastically imperative (CDC, 2021a). Specialists in infection prevention are key stakeholders in implementing and analyzing measures to prevent and reduce microbial transmission and identifying evidence-based practices for treatment of infectious diseases. The goal of this course is to provide nursing professionals in acute care settings with information on evidence-based practices for preventing and controlling the transmission of infectious agents. This course is not affiliated with the Certification Board of Infection Control & Epidemiology (CBIC).
