Course overview

There are different types of portable oxygen concentrators available, each providing different options for modes and capacities. It is important to review how these oxygen concentrators work and the benefits and limitations of each in order to select the appropriate device for an individuals medical needs. Portable oxygen concentrators allow more mobility, which provides the opportunity for enhanced quality of life. The Federal Aviation Administration allows specific approved portable oxygen concentrator models to be on airplanes. Some respiratory care professionals, depending on their practice environment, may have limited exposure to these devices. The goal of this course is to provide respiratory therapy professionals in various care settings with the knowledge required to provide high-quality care to patients requiring oxygen therapy with a portable oxygen concentrator.
