Laws and Rules: Adverse Incident Reporting

Course overview

Since 2018 Florida midwives have been required to report all adverse incidents that occur during an out of hospital birth to the Department of Health. These reports trigger an investigation into the case and the care the midwife provided to the patient. This course will help the midwife to provide and document patient care as specified in 64B24 Chapter 7, F.A.C. (midwifery practice), complete the Adverse Incident Report as required by law, understand and prepare for an investigation by the Department of Health Investigative Services Unit.
