This activity aims to inform nurses operating in the state of Florida of the rules and laws administered through the Florida legislature and enforced by the Florida Board of Nursing. Florida nurses are liable to uphold Florida board of nursing standards defined by the practice act to obtain licensure. Information provided in this course is not to be used in place of governing board guidelines but serves as a tool to increase awareness and knowledge. With the completion of this activity, you will be able to: 1. Define the Florida Nurse Practice Act. 2. Outline regulations and requirements regarding the nurse multistate/compact licensure. 3. Distinguish the different levels of nursing practice and the scope of practice governing each. 4. Describe the initial licensure process and requirements for maintaining licensure. 5. Discuss the importance of attending an accredited nursing program. 6. Identify acts leading toward disciplinary action. 7. Discuss exceptions as defined by the Florida Nurse Practice Act.
