Course overview

Participants will be able to describe neurotransmitters and their interaction with neuro-receptors, will be able to describe pharmacological fundamentals such as: drug naming conventions, drug potency, body metabolization, and addiction potential, will be able to describe the use psychotropic and MAT medications in substance abuse treatment, their effects and side-effects, will be able to describe techniques to help clients make informed decisions around their use psychotropic and MAT medications, and will be able to describe the appropriate use of medications vs. drug abuse, drug dependence, and drug addiction.
