Course overview
This course seeks to help PTs/PTAs, OTs/OTAs, SLPs and caregivers understand gastro-esophageal reflux in normal development and for children with medical complexities. A thorough review of anatomy, common cultural practices, the need for and consequences of medical interventions, long-term consequences of uncontrolled reflux, how therapists can educate families in simple techniques to assist caregivers who have concerns or know when more aggressive intervention is needed for children who experience regular gastro-esophageal (GE) reflux.
