At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Examine the potential cardiovascular risk profile in individuals with rheumatoid arthritis
- Compare and contrast common rheumatoid arthritis medications' cardiovascular benefits and risks
- Incorporate current rheumatoid arthritis guidelines into a patient care plan and consider how they may work for and against cardiovascular protection in the setting of rheumatoid arthritis
- Create patient care plans for patients with RA that addresses their RA status while encompassing cardiovascular risk reduction strategies
Course overview
Premature mortality from cardiovascular disease is the most common cause of mortality among patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). This activity provides an update on cardiovascular risk considerations in the setting of RA, helping to break down the complexity of how an inflammatory condition enhances cardiovascular risk under the guise of normal cholesterol levels, and provides pharmacists, nurse practitioners, and physicians with the latest evidenced-based guidance for managing patients with RA. This one-hour course is self-paced and can be completed from the convenience of your computer, laptop, or mobile device.
