Course overview

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn the basic safety fundamentals of three topics 1) grossing blade handling, 2) microtome blade handling, and 3) general lab do's and don'ts of how to keep safe. For grossing blade safety, attendees will learn of proper grossing blade handling, disposal and blade storage to prevent injury to themselves or others. For microtome blade safety, attendees will learn the fundamentals of proper microtome blade installation, handling, and disposal to prevent injury to themselves or others. And lastly, for general lab safety, attendees will learn ten do's and don'ts related to general safety in a laboratory environment. Often these behaviors are overlooked but can pose serious safety hazards to themselves or others.
