DME Recommendations and Documentation
Tracking # 20-943512
Course overview
Physical and occupational therapy professionals are responsible for completing objective assessments that justify the need for durable medical equipment (DME) and documenting medical necessity to support reimbursement. Clinicians should be confident in their ability to assess the need for DME and choose the appropriate type. This course reviews best practices in assessment and documentation to determine and justify when DME may be beneficial and what equipment is appropriate as part of the rehabilitation process. Learners will develop an understanding of insurance reimbursement guidelines and situations in which the patient is responsible for the cost of the DME.
