CHPN: Psychosocial Support

Course overview

The course provides nurses with information on the types of grief, the difference between grief and depression, and how nurses can support adults and children through the process of grief. Cultural considerations, spirituality, and communication strategies to support the patient and family during the last weeks of life are addressed. Bereavement services are discussed at the end of this course. The goal of this course is to provide nurses preparing for the Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse (CHPN) examination with information regarding the psychosocial, spiritual, and cultural needs of hospice and palliative care patients and their families.
