Geriatric Dispensing

Course overview

Of Florida's more than 21 million citizens, more than 20 percent are senior citizens. Learning to more effectively dispense glasses and contact lenses to this segment of our society not only contributes to their health, safety, and welfare, but to all Floridians. After all, we share the same stores, sidewalks, and highways with one another. Special emphasis is given to communicating with geriatric patients, words and phrases to avoid, understanding and communicating with different generations, special considerations and fears, bags, wrinkles, sagging skin, nose pads, progressive lenses, driving at night, photochromics, home lighting, the UNIVERSAL second-pair opportunity with seniors, and frame and lens selection.
