Course overview

September 8 and 9, 2022 Live Webinar ADHD is a condition that affects the executive functioning part of the brain, which manages our working memory, ability to focus, ability to plan, stay organized, finish what we started, and regulate emotions, among other things. Realizing that ADHD plays a role in the relational dynamic is crucial to transforming anger into empathy, and developing strategies to better manage its impact and stay united against it. In this course, we will look at the manifestations of ADHD and how they impact emotions, and the love relationship. We will discover how to track the ADHD-impacted cycle without pathologizing, and look for the often-surprising primary emotions that can be so well hidden by ADHD partners. Clips will be shown of ADHD and non-ADHD partners sharing their felt experiences of the relationship, and the therapist working with tracking the cycle, reflecting, validating and assembling emotions. We will look at how to work with ADHD in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) through all three stages, and what additional interventions are necessary to help a couple not only cope, but grow around ADHD. Presenter Bios: Alexine Thompson-de Benoit Alexine is an ICEEFT Certified EFT Supervisor & Trainer, clinical psychologist, and licensed marriage and family therapist in Switzerland. As the EFT trainer for Switzerland, Alexine has a passionate interest in ADHD for several years learning to recognize and treat relationships affected by this disorder. By following the powerful EFT roadmap, she effectively helps these couples develop compassion for each other and an understanding that they are both victims of this diagnosis. Ben Kneubuhler Ben is a psychotherapist, sexologist and ICEEFT Certified EFT Supervisor Candidate in Switzerland. Besides working with couples, he runs therapy groups and coaching sessions for ADHD diagnosed clients for many years. His passion is nurtured by the manifold capabilities and uniqueness such clients bring to our world.
