Orthopedic Manual Therapy for Low Back Pain

Course overview

Over 80 percent of Americans suffer from low back pain LBP at some point. Clinicians must demonstrate the ability to integrate the best evidence based examination and interventions to create measurable results, rapidly. This course builds clinician skills from exam to interventions, based on clinical practice guidelines CPGs and research. Identify impairments and target areas of impairment rapidly, with focus on manual therapy interventions and mobility work to achieve measurable functional outcomes. Learn to incorporate the APTAs CPGs for back pain to categorize impairments appropriately. For recommended manual therapy categories, apply specific techniques to promote mobility and function using soft tissue mobilization/myofascial release, MFR, joint mobilization, muscle energy/PNF MET and positional release PRT. Manual therapy has been shown to be a valuable intervention to integrate with therapeutic exercise. Develop the clinical reasoning processes to design programs that incorporate manual therapy for people with low back pain and mobility impairments for successful results.
