Course overview
This course covers the standards hospices must meet and the governmental agencies they must answer to. It discusses Medicare Hospice Benefits and how to identify key elements that prove a patients clinical eligibility for hospice. It outlines ethical principles and common ethical dilemmas, such as the right to choose, withholding and withdrawing life sustaining therapies, and medically administered nutrition and hydration. The last section of the course covers specialty nursing practice guidelines and ways to promote professional growth and self-efficacy. The goal of this course is to update nursing professionals in palliative care with trends and specialty practice issues. This course is not affiliated with the Accreditation Board for Specialty Nursing Certification (ABSNC).
