The empirically-validated treatment series focuses on psychosocial interventions for various mental health conditions which are supported by research evidence. Most recent estimates show that 64.5% of adult Americans are overweight or obese. Obesity causes approximately 300,000 additional deaths per year in the U. S., and accrues a healthcare cost of about $100 billion per year. This course focuses on cognitive behavioral therapy with hypnosis for the treatment of obesity. Learning Objectives: * Review a description of obesity, including prevalence rates, healthcare costs, and associated health risks. * Compare the effectiveness of cognitive behavioral therapy with and without the addition of hypnosis. * Review a description of the important steps and techniques for cognitive behavioral therapy with hypnosis.
