The purpose of this course is to familiarize the audience with the clinical ability to examine and treat posterior segment trauma. Optometry is often the first line of contact during an urgent case of ocular injury. The course will describe techniques to help better locate the injury. In addition, the management of such injuries as closed globe and open globe trauma will be discussed. How to manage traumatic subluxation or dislocation of the lens, vitreous hemorrhage, retinal breaks, retinal detachment, traumatic macular hole, and open globe injuries will be explained.
