This course is about treating various sports injuries with the appropriate assessments and procedures. Students will discover Sports Massage methods of treatment that circumstances indicate as well as the contraindications. Sample routines and stretches that can be incorporated into any session will be provided.

In this class students will learn the definition of Sports Massage, its benefits, intent, considerations, assessment and timing of treatment; learn and demonstrate commonly used sports massage techniques; grasp the foundation of event massage routine, as well as setting up for an event. They will be provided a list of necessary equipment and supplies for a successful on-site sports massage event. Furthermore, the students will learn to identify different injuries, what they are and which sports they are specific to, as well as identifying symptoms of hyperthermia and hypothermia. There will practice applying KT tape in order to learn that pre and post event treatment. Students will demonstrate sports massage strokes by performance on their fellows.
