Discussion about understanding the context of trauma, including what trauma is, the attachment cycle and implications for development, how the brain processes trauma and builds defense mechanisms, the reenactment triangle of trauma, setting boundaries, and trauma bonding and how it can present in different environments. Additional topics include understanding trauma; the attachment cycle/circle of security; tree of regulation; why understanding trauma is important; seven risk factors for interpersonal trauma; adverse childhood experiences (ACEs); fight, flight, freeze, fawn modes; main categories of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD); common impacts of trauma; PTSD vs. complex post-traumatic stress disorder (C-PTSD); obvious vs. hidden impairments; three responses to powerlessness; and trauma bonds.
