Course overview

The empirically-validated treatment series focuses on psychosocial interventions for various mental health conditions which are supported by research evidence. Recent epidemiological research has confirmed that child and adolescent depression is a significant public mental health problem. This course explores two empirically-supported interventions for child and adolescent depression: cognitive-behavioral therapy and the adolescent coping with depression course. Learning Objectives: * Review a description of child and adolescent depression, including a definition of symptoms, onset, prevalence, and course. * Compare cognitive-behavioral therapy and the adolescent coping with depression course to various treatment alternatives. * Review a description of the important steps and techniques for each treatment intervention.
