Course overview

Orthoses are beneficial to help maintain or improve range of motion (ROM), reduce pain, improve function, and provide stability. Physical and occupational therapy professionals play a key role in recommending orthoses when indicated and how to educate a patient to achieve the best outcomes. This course will compare different types of orthoses for both the upper and lower extremity and their indications for use. Considerations for choosing the best material for fabricating custom orthoses are also presented.
