Course overview

Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) practices are being championed in all walks of life. The need for understanding, tolerance, and acceptance for those different from us has never been greater. Perhaps the greatest way to impact this area is through our children. This 1-hour, cutting-edge view-on-demand, recorded webinar offers a deeper look into what these practices represent, our responsibilities as pediatric professionals, and specific activities to integrate into daily lessons and plans that easily provide a larger worldview. Participants leave with a deeper understanding of their roles, resources for further learning activities, and specific lesson plans and strategies for natural, simplified implementation. At the end of this course, you will be able to (1) list the specific meanings of diversity, equity, and inclusion, (2) identify current research on DEI and education, (3) apply these concepts and resources with daily activities with children and teens. This distance-learning, independent format is offered at 0.1 CEUs, Introductory Level, OT Service Delivery, and targeted to introductory- to advanced-level OTs, COTAs, and other professionals working with children and teens. The course instructor, Lori Benson Adams, MEd, is an educational intervention specialist and owner of Breakthrough Learning Solutions in Atlanta, Georgia. She has over 35 years of experience with students who experience sensory, learning, behavioral, and executive function challenges. Lori presents nationally to audiences of parents, therapists, and educators. She is known for her immediately practical information and wealth of knowledge and resources.
