Learn moreCourse overview
Participants will learn both Western and Chinese approaches to inflammation treatment. Despite the fact that their pathologies and treatment strategies are quite different, both are considered heat in Chinese medicine. Because heat can manifest as fever, infection, inflammation, allergies, autoimmune disease, and other conditions, the term "heat" alone is insufficient to characterize disease pathology. Similarly, the term "heat-clearing" is vague, and more information on its pharmacology, such as antipyretic, antibiotic (antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal), antiallergic, or anti-inflammatory properties, would be helpful. Western pharmaceutical precautions, FDA restrictions, herbal incompatibilities, contraindications, and toxicity will be addressed. This course, which is based on both Chinese herbology and Western pharmacology, provides useful information for effectively diagnosing inflammation and selecting the appropriate herbal treatment.
