Course overview

The incidence of hip fractures in the United States is 80 to 100,00; this risk doubles for every 10 years of life after age 50. Hip fractures are most likely to occur in people older than 65 years of age, 75% of hip fractures occur in women, and Caucasian women are two times more likely than African American and Hispanic women to suffer from a hip fracture. Although hip fractures can occur at any age, less than 2% of hip fractures occur in adolescents and young athletes. This lesson will educate the learner about the management of the patient with a hip injury.
