Boundary Basics for Veterinary Professionals

Course overview

The veterinary profession is facing unprecedented stressors and demands. Workload, short-staffing, and client demands are fueling burnout and turnover. Many veterinary professionals feel a strong sense of pride and dedication, and as a result, have difficulty saying no and taking time for themselves. Now, more than ever, veterinarians and veterinary team members need to learn to set healthy boundaries with kindness and compassion. In this course, we will define boundaries and discuss how healthy boundaries can improve patient care. We will cover types of boundaries, effective and ineffective approaches to boundary-setting, mentoring early career veterinary professionals through the process of setting boundaries effectively, and common misconceptions about boundaries.
