At the end of this course the learner will be able to:

1. Recognize the difficulties of communicating with a person with dementia.
2. Identify the factors that may affect a person with dementias ability to communicate.
3. Indicate how to adjust your approach in communicating with a person with dementia.
4. Determine how body language affects a person’s communication.
5. Describe the importance of social groups for a person with dementia.
6. Identify common communication problems in dementia residents and learn interventions for each problem.
