Course overview

Participants will be able to describe the historical experience of the Scots/Irish as it relates to independence, authority, democracy, and religion, will be able to describe the experience of Appalachian people in the United States, their participation in the American Revolution, the Civil War, and their migration to the north and west, and will be able to describe how they can manage service provision to Appalachian clients, focusing on cultural attributes, group inclusion, and use of language, music, and story-telling.
