Capnography

Course overview

Capnography has become a cornerstone of patient assessment in emergency and critical care medicine. But, do we underutilize it? We're going to see in this lesson that there are way more uses for capnography than confirming whether or not your patient has bronchospasm. We're going to start out with understanding our basic waveform and the phases of breathing. Then, we find out where that CO2 comes from and how it's transported. Capnography can be obscured by ventilation/perfusion mismatch, so we examine that next - along with air trapping. We then finish this lesson off with a bunch of really cool ETCO2 waveforms that you must know!
