- Know and apply the rules pertaining to the appropriate and safe storage of medications to be dispensed
- Understand and utilize the rules on recordkeeping pertaining to dispensed and stored medications, for purchases and inventory maintenance
- Understand and apply the rules pertaining to the dispensing, labeling and packaging of dispensed medications
- Understand and perform the procedures and processes necessary in the event of a theft or loss of medications to be dispensed
- Know what can and cannot be delegated in the dispensing of medications
Course overview
Dispensing Rules Course for Physicians. This course is mandatory for licensed Louisiana physicians who wish to dispense medications from their office location as part of their practice. The course reviews Chapter 65 of the Board's rules on Dispensing Medications. Licensees who are found in violation of a practice act provision will also be required to take the course to review the rules for their profession.
