At the conclusion of this course the participant will be able to 1. Define infection and identify methods of prevention. 2. Identify the components of the chain of infection. 3. Discuss modes of transmission. 4. List the methods of transmission for drug resistant organisms. 5. List blood borne pathogens of particular importance to hospital personnel. 6. Define and list types of PPE and conditions for use. 7. Explain what the CDC recommends concerning the use of artificial nails. 8. Describe the circumstances for the use of alcohol-based hand rub. 9. Define Hand Hygiene and the most appropriate method of cleaning hands.
