Course overview

Culturally competent supervision refers to supervision guided by knowledge of culture as it relates to ethnicity, race, age, class, gender, sexual orientation, religion, immigration status, literacy, and mental, physical disability. This course will encourage supervisors to explore how they are impacted by their own and their supervisees cultures within the supervisory relationship. Furthermore, obstacles to supervisees success will be examined by taking into consideration the unique cultural context and history of the individual. Attendees will be able to leave the workshop with a variety of skills, tools, and interventions to support them through the supervisory process.
