Defining the E in DEI: Equity Essentials

Course overview

This course introduces basic concepts related to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) with an emphasis on the concept of equity. Within the context of veterinary medicine, individuals will deepen their understanding of equity as it relates to similar concepts. The historical context behind many of our modern-day equity issues is provided as a framework for exploring where those issues show up within their own profession. In addition to providing basic concepts and critical historical context, this module utilizes current research to help learners explore the benefits of increased equity in the workplace. The purpose of this module is to not only equip individuals with a strong conceptual foundation but also with strategies to advance equity within their own organizations.
