ELNEC Core 2 Module: Pain Management
Tracking # 20-976542
Course overview
Welcome to the Pain Management course in the ELNEC Core Curriculum. This course builds on the concepts presented in Module 1, Palliative Nursing, and will outline the general care management strategies related to pain assessment and management for nurses practicing across all settings and with all age groups. Nurses must develop comprehensive pain assessment and management skills whether in hospice or palliative care, preventing patients and their families from suffering. To mitigate the barriers, nurses must collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to address the many dimensions of pain using multidimensional approaches (e.g., pharmacologic, procedural interventions, and non-pharmacologic therapies, along with consultation to pain and addiction specialists, radiation oncologists, mental health professionals, rehabilitation therapists, integrative medicine experts, spiritual counselors, etc.). The goal of this course is to provide nurses with knowledge of pain management.
