The American Psychiatric Association's (APA) publication, Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), has been the industry standard for practitioners, researchers, pharmaceutical companies, insurance companies, and policymakers since the original draft was published in 1952. The fifth edition, text revision of the manual, known as the DSM-5-TR was published in March 2022, after receiving approval at the annual APA conference.
