Care of the Adult Patient with a Tracheostomy
Tracking # 20-977810
Course overview
The healthcare professionals knowledge of tracheostomy tubes (TT)s can improve patient care and outcomes. This course provides evidence-based information for the care of the patient with TT. The plan of care is geared to the needs of each patient. However, there are general guidelines when managing patients with TT. Quality of life and safety are key areas of concern and require the healthcare professional to maintain adequate knowledge about the artificial airway (Bonvento et al., 2017). This course will provide a general overview of the types of TT, stoma care, suctioning, and the speaking valve.
