Course overview

This course will discuss two recent peer-reviewed articles that explore the efficacy, acceptability, and common elements of psychotherapies used for the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in children and adolescents. A review of PTSD in children and adolescents will be covered, along with a discussion of the current research regarding types of therapies. Recommendations and clinical implications for the treatment of PTSD in children and adolescents will be discussed, along with recommendations for future research. This course is based on the reading-based online article, Comparative efficacy and acceptability of psychotherapies for post-traumatic stress disorder in children and adolescents: a systematic review and network meta-analysis created by Yajie Xiang, et al in 2021 and Common elements of evidence-based trauma therapy for children and adolescents by Lieke H. Kooij, MSc, et al in 2022.
