The authors of this article call for a revision the psychiatric strategy of “start low and go slow” and waiting six to eight weeks to adjust treatment for Major Depressive Disorder. This article provides rationale for earlier and more aggressive treatment strategies for treatment of Major Depressive Disorder. The authors provide recommendations for how to use these strategies in patient-centered clinical care for clients presenting with depressive complaints. This course is based on the article, Functional Recovery in Major Depressive Disorder: Providing Early Optimal Treatment for the Individual Patient created by Oloruntoba J.
