This course examines Gambling Disorder (GD) and it's psychological underpinnings. It explains: problematic vs pathological gambling, co-occurring depression in gambling disorder, types of problematic gambling, online interventions for depressive symptoms, and online interventions for addiction problems. The study has some methodology issues that adversely affected the results, but the results do show promise and raise topics and methodology changes in this population for future study. This course is based on the reading-based online article, Effects of a Depression-focused Internet Intervention in Slot Machine Gamblers-A Randomized Controlled Trial created by Lara Bucker, M.Sc, Julia Bierbrodt, and Professor Iver Hand in 2018.
