Learner Objectives: The course will address issues surrounding diving incidents and fatalities. Discussion of human factors concerns will be a part of the course. Subject matter: Welcome/ Introduction to ORCA, Cardiac Surgery: Lessons in Self Awareness, History of Interventions, DAN and DIMS Experience, HFACS v. 8 The common framework, Operator/Physician Lessons for Sea, Air and Land , USN HRO Leadership: The Linchpin of Safe Systems, Lessons from Breath Hold Diving, The 4 Rs: Recognition-Recovery-Resilience-Right Stuff, Culture of Safety, Checklists, ORCA Dashboard (DD/DABOS/GAR), Training, Initial Dive Training, Summary. Teaching Methods: Didactic lectures, Panels, Question & Answer, Summary. Evaluation Methods: Evaluation is offered at the end of the program through the UHMS Online CME Portal, which evaluates the effectiveness of the meeting, speakers and that no bias was presented, and overall objectives were met.
