Course overview
Numerous laws affect healthcare delivery. Many are aimed at patient protection and quality healthcare. Standards of practice and licensure laws govern practice for all healthcare providers. Federal laws have been enacted to protect sensitive health information, improving care delivery and communication between providers. The COVID-19 pandemic has also affected legislation governing healthcare delivery. In an ongoing effort to improve access to care, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) also institutes changes to standards and guidelines for healthcare providers. The goal of this course is to train case managers about legal issues and risk.
